Throughout her brave three-year battle with cancer, Amy Yost lived in hope that one day she'd meet the men behind Savage Garden. And the band's number one fan drove nurses to distraction playing her favourite music in the children's ward of the Launceston Hospital.
"I bombarded Savage Garden with letters all the time, begging for visits" says Amy, now in remission from leukaemia. But sadly her dream meeting looked doomed when the band broke up. Amy offered her wish chance to another child since her own dream seemed unattainable. But then in April the 18 year old had the shock of her life. Tracey and Matt from Melbourne's Fox Radio morning show came to the rescue with an invitation that she simply couldn't refuse. "I'd given up hope and hold the Foundation to give my wish away because my dream was never going to happen. But Make-A-Wish and Fox organised for me to meet Darren Hayes - and I was one of a handful of fans lucky enought to meet him and watch him perform in our very own personal concert. "He was everything I'd imagined. I got to hug him and talk to him and he was really lovely. I smiled so much that he said I made him smile too." says Amy. "It was the best ever wish imaginable and well worth the wait" |
