Darren Stanley Hayes...was born on May 8 1972, in a suburb of Melbourne Australia; since he was very young he knew he wanted to be a singer. Musicly, I grew up in the eighties and that was the kind of music that influenced on me and made me decide or imitate carrers like Michael Jackson's, Motown, Prince and Duran Duran, although, when I listened to U2 for the first time I realized the kind of musician I wanted to become. Forgeting for a while his inquietudes, Darren decided to study journalism at university, since he felt it was necesary to release his aptitude for writing and he thought that was the only way to do it, since the idea of singing professionally seemed to be almost impossible. The fact that I'm a journalist by profession makes me question harshly the people who interview me....I never thought there are so many questions that I consider important about my career and no body has dare to ask me, I used to analize them until I realized I'm a musician and I cant judge the professions I dont practice. After being a part of SG with Daniel Jones, He realized that he needed to be on his own to be able to create the music he really wanted to sing, so thats how Spin was borned (2001) his first solo album. To sing solo was one of the most hard and painful decisions that I've had to make in my life, I knew I'd have to confront the eternal shadow of a group that got important achievements and above all I was aware that people would doubt about my talent, amazingly the only thing I had to get used to was to be flattered. So, little by little he has consolidated a career in which he has convinced his detractors of his value proving that his talent trascends the idea of being considered a sex symbol; I dont know how can they think that about me, every time it gets harder for me to keep my hair done, my clothes are old fashioned and my tummy is getting bigger, but its a relieve to know that things are going well and when I'm bald and fat people will still be listening to me. |
